Here is another delicious recipe for all of your’ll that is Prawn Bachao. it is also a very popular dish in Goa. it is also called fresh prawn pickle or prawn mol. Prawn Balchao is a spicy seafood dish in goan cuisine. balchao was introduced in india by the catholic Portuguese during colonization. to make this dish you will need,
Ingredients & Quantity
1) Fresh Prawns (Medium to big) – 1 kg
2) Dried kashmiri chilies – 25 Nos
3) Garlic cloves – 12 Nos
4) Ginger – 2 inch
5) Cumin seeds (Jeera) – 1 tbsp
6) Cloves – 12 Nos
7) Turmeric Powder – 2 tsp
8) Cinnamon – 2 inch piece
9) Black Peppercorns – 20 Nos
10) salt – 2 tsp
11) Sugar – 2 tsp
12) Coconut vinegar – 400 Ml
13) refined oil – 6 Tbsp
1) First wash the prawns, shell & de-vein them.
2) wash and drain them and than marinate it with turmeric & salt, keep it aside for 1 hour.
3) Soak the chilies in 100 ml vinegar and kep it aside for 2 to 3 hours.
4) Slightly roast all the spices till you get nice aroma out of it.
5) Grind all the ingredients along with the vinegar into a mixer till you get fine paste.
6) Heat 3 tbsp of oil in a pan and shallow fry the prawns for 7 to 8 mins and keep it aside.
7) Once prawns are almost cooked remove it into a bowl and in the same pan add more 3 tbsp of oil and add chopped onion and fry it till it turns golden brown in color.
8) Add the fine paste in the pan and cook it for 10 to 12 mins.
9) Add the fried prawns & season it with sugar and salt and mix well, cook for more 10 to 12 mins.
10) Cool it thoroughly before storing it.
*You can adjust the quantity of Vinegar or sugar to suit your taste.
*Adding 2 to 3 tbsp of palm feni before storing with preserve it for longer duration.
