In this video, we’ll show you how to bake buttery, nutty, cookies shaped as crescents. We add ground hazelnuts, but ground almonds or walnuts would be equally delicious. We’ll also show you a trick of using a whole vanilla bean to flavor confectioners’ sugar that we’ll use at the end to dust our cookies.

For added flavor, you can toast the hazelnuts and remove the toasted skins by rubbing them between a clean towel before grinding or finely chopping. You can also substitute a tablespoon of Frangelico (hazelnut liqueur) for the vanilla extract and dip one end of each cookie in melted chocolate.
