I was just watching this again. I usually drain the chickpeas and then put them in a bowl of water to squeeze gently with my fingers and the skins float to the surface. Maybe if we did your method with the paper towels and then put them in a bowl of water it would be quicker. The skins do float to the surface and are easy to collect.
